Braves' Brian Snitker didn't bring family to Philadelphia over 'hostile crowd'

Brian Snitker, the manager of the Atlanta Braves, is not bringing his family to Citizens Bank Park to watch his club play the Philadelphia Phillies.

He stated during an appearance on 92.9 The Game’s The Steakhouse show that his family will no again attend games in Philadelphia due to the treatment they received during the previous year’s playoffs.

“It is Philly by far, where we’re going, that is by far the most hostile crowd,” said Snitker. “I know that my wife said, ‘I don’t care what you guys are doing, I’m not going back there,’ after the playoffs the previous year. There, things are difficult. To be honest, they don’t appear to mind either. Last year was really difficult for them all, to the point of concern.”

Further, Snitker stated that he has instructed his spouse to “don’t wear anything with Braves on it” while they are attending a game in Philadelphia since he has heard “inappropriate stuff being said around the children and things like that and nobody seems to care.”

There are thirteen regular season games between the Braves and Phillies. Additionally, they have faced off in the NLDS the last two years, with Philadelphia emerging victorious in both series after four games.

During Game 4 of the NLDS last year, Orlando Arcia and Ronald Acuña Jr. were spotted interacting with the spectators at Citizens Bank Park. Acuña gave a mouth motion similar to “zip it” following a home run by Austin Riley.

At one time, Arcia was observed indicating Atlanta’s 2021 World Series victory with his ring finger.

Throughout that series, feelings were running high for both teams and fan communities. In the first game of the series at Truist Park, after Sean Murphy was called for catcher’s interference to allow the Phillies to win 3-0, Braves supporters tossed debris on the field.

Over the years, the Philadelphia fans has been at the center of numerous disputes. Batteries were thrown at former outfielder J.D. Drew during a 1999 game against the Phillies.
